Vertical Tsala plate grabs (to lift plates standing vertically)

  • 1ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 22mm thickness
  • 2ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 30mm thickness
  • 3ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 35mm thickness
  • 5ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 5mm – 45mm thickness

These plate grabs may be used in pairs if the plates to be lifted are flexible and too long.

Spreader beams should be used to ensure the plate grabs do not pull inward when lifting a plate and in so doing may dislodge from the plate. If no spreader beams are available the use of the Universal plate grab must be employed.

Plates to be lifted must be clean and the area where the grab will be affixed must not have dirt or lubricants on that will cause the grab to slip under load.

Any plate to be lifted must first be lifted a few centimetres off the ground to check that the grabs are functioning properly.

The lifting of more than one plate at a time must not be undertaken without extreme caution being applied.

 

Horizontal Tsala Plate grabs (to lift plates lying horizontal)

  • 750kg capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 25mm thickness
  • 5ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 30mm thickness
  • 2ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 5mm – 45mm thickness

The work load limit of these plates grabs refer to them as per pair.

Care must be taken when lifting flexible plates to ensure the clamps can hold the plates properly.

Universal Tsala Plate grabs (to lift plates vertically)

  • 1ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 20mm thickness
  • 2ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 25mm thickness
  • 3ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 30mm thickness
  • 5ton capacity to accommodate steel plates 1mm – 50mm thickness

These plate grabs have a 4:1 factor of safety and have been submitted to a proof load of 2 times the work load limit.

These plate grabs are best suited when a two legged chain sling is used for lifting plates that are flexible and too long.

The attachment eye (lifting eye) swivel and will therefore follow the chain sling and reduce the side pulling of the plate grab. However the work load limit has to be calculated with the angle that will be applied during the lift.

When preparing to lift the plates the clamping lever must be loosened to allow the plate to be fitted into the jaws. Once done the clamp must be turned to engage the jaws properly onto the plates.
